Pitching and My Walk With God

I've been playing ball for as long as I can remember. When I try to think back to when it started, I can't. My dad coached me from the time I was teenie tiny, and if we play around now, he still throws out pointers.
One thing I've learned is that these pointers don't just apply to softball. They've taught me a thing or two about my walk with God, as well. Take pitching for example. I was never the fastest pitcher, and if someone said I was, they were lying through their teeth. But Daddy had this saying that helped me with my accuracy. He'd say, "when your arm comes around, it should go'to the glove and to the glove.'" This meant that when my wind up started I should aim my arm straight at the glove and release with my arm, again, aimed straight at the glove. Think about our walk with God. If our path is set anywhere aside from God, we will stay. Then when it's time for us to let go, we aren't going to be aimed at Him. If we are focused on money, work, college, etc. then when it's time for us to exit this earth, we can't be completely sure where we'll land. Our first steps should be pointed to God as should every step after.
Just like in pitching, there will be times we aren't completely lined up and we veer out of the zone, but so long as we try again and continue making the corrections to focus on God, we'll land where we need to in the end. To the glove, to the glove. To God, to God.
