My Mother's Love

If you have a good mama, you probably think yours is the best mama in the world. I definitely think that of mine.
It is no surprise that people look up to their mamas. They are the ones there from us from the first seconds of our lives and on. They provide for us, love us, care for and about us, bandage us up, kiss our boo-boos, and so much more. There isn't hardly a role that our mothers haven't filled at some point or other.

Best Friends
Growing up, my mama always referred to me as a daddy's girl. It's true. I loved my daddy, and I was a tomboy so playing ball, fishing, hunting, and doing all the fun stuff like that was always fun for me. What she never realized was that I also loved spending time with her. Our bond was reading and just being. We both love books, so we could go to the library or sit at her house and read for hours without speaking. We could just be, and I loved it. I still look forward as an adult to going over to her house with my kids, and sometimes when they are occupied, my mama and I still sometimes just sit and read. Sometimes, we watch our favorite TV shows, play board or card games, or we just talk for hours. She is my best friend, and while I might always be a daddy's girl, I will always be a mama's girl, too.
Role Model
I have loved watching her as I grew up because she never met a stranger. She speaks to anyone and everyone--she always has. Her heart is bigger than the state of Texas, and her compassion is unmatched. I won't say that I hope to be half the mama she is one day because I want to be for my kids what she is for me, so I hope I'm as good of a mother as she is. I pray I'm my kiddos' best friend, but even if I do ever only amount to half the mother she is, that'll be a pretty great mama because my mama is a gem. There isn't another like her anywhere.
